We recently visited a nice restaurant downtown Montréal that is a franchise but you wouldn’t be able to tell so by the experience you have while eat. The Keg has two locations in Montreal and when you decided to have a meal there, it’s a real treat. It’s classy and makes you want to just sit back, relax and have a drink while you wait for your meal.

The restaurant its self has made a name for itself as a steak house as well as a lounge. As we waiting for our friends who are always late, we had a drink and ordered some nachos. The atmosphere in the bar area of the restaurant is really nice and spacious. We had our drinks within minutes and nachos in a timely manner. The one big downfall to this restaurant is the fact that you cannot make reservations on Fridays or Saturdays as it’s so busy they do not have the extra room or time to hold tables. This is hard to plan a meal around as you show up to early, not everyone is there or if you show up to late, you are going to have to wait in the lobby for a table.

Now onto food and service, obviously you are going to be paying more then some other generic chains of restaurants but it is well worth it. Steaks, seafood and different options are all worth the price you pay. The service on the other hand is standard to watch you would expect from a restaurant like this but do not really go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed. They are pleasant when they take your order, always have it right and are timely with any requests. One interesting aspect to the restaurant is drinks and appetizers have their normal sizes and Keg sizes which is a little bigger then standard. This is a nice branding tool to make you remember where you are.

Overall the restaurant is an 8.5/10 for us. We like going there for special occasions and always enjoy ourselves. If we were able to make reservations ahead of time this would just make this restaurant perfect. We suggest going out to The Keg and having a good time, just remember when you order your drinks The Keg size so that you can have that extra enjoyment!
