We always enjoy going out for a nice meal and trying something new. Well that something new was Kanda Sushi which is a local chain in Montréal which offers all you can eat Sushi for one price. They have several locations around the island and we decided to give it a try and see what it was all about. Our table was full of plates and our stomachs where full at the end.
So when you walked in and get seated, they give you two papers which are legal size with all the items on their menu. You pencil in what you want and how many times. The waiter later comes by for the paper and you can order drinks. You have a variety of sushi and other grilled specials which make you want to try it since it’s all the same price anyway. We ordered 3 plates of sushi and lildrummerboy even ordered a fish head to try it out. The sushi was awesome and we just cleared the plate, maybe even eating to fast. The fish head looked like a fish head but still had all the bones in it and lildrummerboy just didn’t enjoy it. There was a mix up on one of the orders which lead to them bringing something else which just didn’t look good at all. Overall the food was decent for the 25$ price tag. All you can eat sushi, you really couldn’t go wrong.
Service is obviously where they save money here. With all you can eat sushi, you could imagine how busy they would be and we understood this. When there was a mix up, the guy double checked our paper to confirm it then when he brought over the right item, pretty much threw it on the table. Not something we would expect at a restaurant chain. The drinks came fast and they took our order also pretty fast. It seemed though like they expect a lot of people who go into this place not to know what they are eating as they even messed up the sushi order but it wasn’t that big of a deal for us. At the end of the night we were full and just wanted to walk around.
We asked for the bill and we were surprised at the fact that our bill was reused. We are pretty sure this is illegal but we gave them the benefit of a doubt. The price is listed as $25.99 but one thing that is noted on the menu is the fact that $1.00 will be charged for left over pieces. We cleared house so we didn’t have to worry about any extra charges but the fact we got someone else bill kind of shocked us. We would consider going back and maybe taking our time while eating. This was the only all you can eat place where some of us didn’t get seconds. There was some really good sushi which we never tried before and even a deep fried one which made the whole experience worth it for us. We would give this place a solid 7 out of 10 as service just ruined the experience for us but the food was decent enough to make us go back.
